“When our body misunderstands itself”

Autoimmune is like a misunderstanding of our body. While our immune system aims to protect our body, protecting us from viruses and bacteria, it can suddenly get “confused” and start attacking our own healthy cells. This attack can cause various diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus or multiple sclerosis. While the exact causes are not yet known, it has been shown that genetics, environment and some infections play a role in this behavior of our immune system.
